Become a Celo Ambassador

Create local community and grow the edge of prosperity

There’s a principle in permaculture called “use edges and value the marginal.” The idea is that the most valuable, diverse, and productive elements in the system often happen at the interface between things. That’s why planting near the edge of a fence, trees, or bushes is considered preferable to an open, solitary spot. Similarly, estuaries — where rivers meet the ocean — are considered one of the most fertile ecosystems. It’s at the edge of microclimates, relationships, or our own comfort zone where things get interesting.

In communities, the edges between two people or groups allows for an exchange of diverse ideas, leading to greater creativity and learning. It’s the leaning into our edge that creates a momentum of prosperity.

To serve these edges, the Celo Foundation is announcing the Celo Ambassador program. Ambassadors of the Celo community ignite the movement of prosperity and carry the torch forward into their own communities.

Who are Celo Ambassadors?

Celo Ambassadors are active Celo community members who are passionate about building local communities around Celo’s mission of prosperity for all. They are energized to increase financial access in their local region and are connected to other organizations that share this mission.

What do they do?

As a Celo Ambassador, you will help energize the Celo community tenets in your local community.

• Speak, write, or share about Celo in your local language
• Build relationships with local organizations and communities that could benefit from Celo
• Organize local or virtual community events that are tied to one of our 4 community tenets: Designing for all, Innovating on Money, Striving for Beauty, Embodying Humility. We created an EventKit to help you create magical events.
• Activate your own ideas for spreading the word about Celo!

We encourage you to bring your own unique gifts to the Ambassador role. The Celo community believes in starting with a gift. By moving from a place of inspiration and passion, you’ll share that prosperity to the larger community through your actions.
